You have to turn off logging for the entire database which can only be done as part of a Level 0 Full system backup. After the load the logging will have to be turned back on with another level 0 archive. Best thing to do: 1) Make sure logs are being backed up continuously, at least during the load. 2) Modify the load program to (FLUSH any INSERT CURSORS and ) COMMIT every few thousand rows and BEGIN WORK again so that you do not have any transaction spanning more than a few log files and the log files can be released for reuse as soon as they are backed up. (If you use insert cursors: DECLARE ... CURSOR WITH HOLD...). 3) Increase the number and/or size of log files. Art S. Kagel
