Access - ODBC - OnLine
Posted in 1996
Hi all, First I must apologise if this message doesn't come out right - my SPARC is refusing to boot, and I'm getting to grips with pine on a PC telnet session :-( I'm a total newbie to client-server stuff, but I've now got a copy of Access on this PC (v2.0), and I've downloaded the Openlink ODBC stuff I need to connect it to Online on a Solaris box. I've installed the server and client bits OK, but I can't seem to attach tables to an Access database. I've configured the data source, and it's definitely doing something when I try to connect. When I try to connect from Access, I get an error message on screen saying "invalid username/password", and a similar message appears in the request broker log file (oplrqb.log). I am definitely supplying the correct user id and password for the server, but is this what the ODBC software is looking for? Is there another id/password that I need to set up for Openlink? Has anyone else come across this problem? The same thing happens when I try to connect from S-Designor. Any ideas, anyone? Sorry, if you think this is in the wrong group, but I don't have usenet access, I just get c.d.i. by email. Thanks in advance, Richard. (PS Pine's fine, but Netscape's great!!)
