I understand the following (but don't take my word for it :) : * If NE >=2.0 ever gets ported to Unix, it will be in the distant future, possibly on demand only; * All development will be done on 32bit Windoze; * Only the application server stuff will be ported for the Unix side, and you would compile the AS code on the Unix side. As I understand it, Informix have apparently noticed that there's this thing called Windoze, which *everyone* is using, and I think they've just given up on Unix for the desktop... sadly, I have too. It's strange how difficult it is to convince a user to use Unix/X although there's not even much of a price difference these days... :-/ > I've seen a posting that seemed to say that development for Unix > platforms would be done on Windows, then compiled on the Unix platform. > Does this sound credible? How would this work? Would one just copy over > the *.wif, etc. files then do a straight compile? With version 1.x for Windows, yes. Subsequently, er, not really. Typically we only port the App Server stuff, no user interface, etc. > What about version differences? As I said, I think the intention is that you will deploy your user interface under Windoze, not Unix/X. HTH.
