Can't authenticate to Online: password incorrect?
Posted in 1997
We are running Online 7.22 on Unixware 2.1, Compaq Proliant 1500.
Users are able to telnet into the system and fire up `dbaccess`.
However, suddenly, they cannot access Online via their Delphi front-end
program, even though they are typing in the same login and passwords as
when they telnet in.
At the PC end the users see the following error messages:
[Intersolv][ODBC Informix driver]
[Informix]User's password is not correct for the database server.
[Intersolv][OBDC Informix driver]
[Informix] No such file or directory. Alias: debit.
The following error appears in the online.log file after an unsuccessful
attempt is made:
14:13:53 listener-thread: err = -952: User's password is not
correct for
the database server.
Since these messages appear in the backend Online.log file, I assume
that the connectivity is not the issue - they are definitely connecting
to Online, at least for an authentication attempt.
I'm not sure how the authentication process works when logging in via
Online, but I imagine that Online passes the login: and password: data
on to the OS for checking if the passwords are correct. What goes on
between Online and the OS that could be mis-operational???
The only thing that has changed, as far as I can recall, is that we
upgraded from Online 7.21 to Online 7.22. But this shouldn't have had
any effect on the login process, right???
Thanx.
