I tried to install it on Mandrake 10.1 kernel 2.6.8 I downloaded the trial version from the IBM site, I could not find instructions on how to install it in such page, so I followed the general instructions for a Linux RPM system 1.- Downloaded the file 2.- Login as root. 3.- cpio -icmv < IDS_file It extracted 3 rpm files ( gls, messages and IIF ) and 3 installation scripts 4.- set the INFORMIXDIR variable to /opt/informix 5.- rpm -iv --relocate /opt/informix $INFORMIXDIR *.rpm I had few problems with the libraries but I downloded the missing library and completed the installation. NOTE: It never asked me for the Serial number and activation key. It created all the Informix's directories ( bin, demo, doc, etc) I tried to test the installation and I ran: /opt/informix/bin/onmonitor but it complain that the serial key and registration is missing. Did somebody run into the same problem? Am I missing something? Regards Gerardo.
Hi Gerado, you need to extract the cpio archive to $INFORMIXDIR and then run the install_server script as root.
