Hi, I'm testing(try &buy) Dynamic server 7.3 on NT and runs very well. My database is as follows: -about 100 tables, several of them have hundred thousand of rows. -Max. Concurrent users: 15 -Type of Queries: Decision support and OLTP mixed. -Concurrent transactions with a HP-UX server running ONLINE 7.1 (no problem with IDS 7.3) I don't need Enterprise replication manager, Datablade, fragmentation nor others "plugins". I think the cost for the license is too too high, so , It's enough to install WORKGROUP EDITION? (costs 5 times less!) . Is there a big difference on performance? Thanks in advance
I can't comment too much on NT but usually, WGS is DS but without the parallelism ( try saying that with a mouth full of marbles ) WGS on UNIX was a very viable option for one of our clients who, like you thought that the price of DS out-priced itself for the size of system they needed ( 60 + users on a 10GB IBM AIX F50 database system, mainly OLTP ). But what the future holds, heaven only knows !! Keep checking the Informix home area, there were rumours that DS & WGS were going to become one product ( to reduce support overhead ).
