BYTE and DBLOAD

Hello Experts,
The problem I'm faced with today goes like this...
1. I have a few tables with a column of the BYTE data type.
2. I am in the process of transferring data from one database to another
(I am using Perl for this)
With Perl I build up unload files and then use dbload to pump them
into the new database. (I have
not used dbexport and Import and the likes for lots of Project
design reasons. I have to use Perl)
3. Now when I get a byte data and write in into a file, I suspect dbload
will crib about loading it into the new database.
So help me, you guys have managed to pull me out of trouble on previous
instances. Please do help me out this time too.
All your suggestions are valuable to me. Thanks!

PRESS RELEASE: June 8, 1999 The 'Zero Impact Service Level Monitor' and 'Zero Impact Sql Monitor' products have been released for AIX. The product line is currently available for AIX, Solaris, Windows 95, 98 and NT. The HP-UX release will be available shortly. Product installation is a three step process that can be completed in a few minutes. Product cost is about the price of a UNIX C++ compiler with volume pricing. If your tired of overpriced, intrusive, difficult to install, and expensive to maintain -- database and service level monitoring products, then refer to www.sqlpower.com. Attention consultants. You can build a very lucrative performance consulting practice around this product line. Product Overview ================ The Zero Impact Sql and Service Level Monitors non-intrusively analyze the SQL network packet flow to the database server for SQL transaction performance and end-user service level monitoring. The products do NOT have to run on the database server, NOR on any client workstations connected to the database server. The products require NO intrusive database server monitors, agents, probes, audits, middleware or proxy servers. NO agents are installed on end user workstations. The Zero Impact Sql Monitor products have NO impact upon the database servers, network or end-users. The product requires no connections to the database server and end-users connect directly to the database server (not the product). A 'Zero Impact Service Level Monitor' and 'Zero Impact Sql Monitor' running on AIX can non-intrusively monitor a database server running on any other hardware platform or operating system.
