DBD-Informix: isqlperl Wrapper?

In the Oracle world, before there was DBD, there was Oraperl -- which was like isqlperl, from what I understand. There is a wrapper for DBD-Oracle that lets you use Oraperl calls, so that you don't need to do much porting to get old Oraperl code to work under DBD. Question => Is there any kind of isqlperl wrapper for DBD-Informix? TIA. Steve <sabat@area51.org> Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
I just ran into isqlperl for the first time on a project I'm currently working on. It also uses oraperl, which I have previous experience with (the project talks from Informix to Oracle). From what I can see of isqlperl, it just returns a pipe delimited stream into an input channel in perl -- and all you can do is select data. With oraperl you can do most of the standard SQL (insert, delete, etc.). Is this correct -- or is the isqlperl I'm using someone's hack? Just interested -- not a big deal if it is, as it works, and the world should soon be tuned into DBI anyway. To the best of my knowledge, there is no isqlperl wrapper for DBD::Informix. There used to be an isqlperl which was written for Perl 4. It uses ESQL/C, but that is about where the similarities with DBD::Informix end. Why would you want isqlperl instead of, or as well as, DBD::Informix?
