Upgrading on Solaris

I am NOT an Informix DBA (for that matter no type of DBA). I am a Unix that has been tasked with upgrading a system that is running Informix. The system is running Solaris 2.3 and needs to go to 2.51. On the Informix side it is running SQL v4.11 adn SE v5.01. We do have a maintenance contract with Informix and tech support suggested that I go to SQL v4.16 UC1 and SE v5.07 UC1. I am assuming this is an easier upgrade path for Informix since there are definetely later versions out there that run under Sol 2.5. Question is what is the proper path? - Do I upgrade Informix and then do Solaris? I would expect this to be the case since the current version of Informix we are using will not run under 2.51. - Or do I dump the tables (somehow!) and import them back in after installing Solaris 2.51 and the new Informix? Any help appreciated.
