You could cause worse and more subtle problems by *not* locking the
database. Here's an example: you have tableB referring to tableA.
While you're unloading tableC, you add new records to A and B. But
because you can't really control the order of the unload, tableA has
already been unloaded, and tableB hasn't. Now what?

You could manually use the UNLOAD command in dbaccess, but be aware
of the above problem....
