Re: Help. Connecting HP/UX and NT Informix

Bryan, We are trying to integrate an OWS onto our UNIX net of Informix servers as well. We found that there is an faxable document from informix which states to put a hosts.equiv (containing a '+' character) in your system32/drivers/etc directory. This will allow other trusted hosts to connect to your NT box. We found benefit from putting SQLHOSTS entries into our NT registry. This got a little tricky with the extra level of indirection on the NT box. Machine name, Data server name, Database name. There can be ONLY one instance of the engine running on NT. At times we felt that NT to NT used the data server name, but PC to NT or UNIX to NT used the Machine name. Between HOSTS and SQLHOSTS we managed to alias our way into something that works. We ran into some problem with user level security across the UNIX to NT machine. We do not share NIS onto NT and we have not found any useful fixes here, yet! Sometime in '97 CIARO will debut with NIS available for NT. Please share any other reponses you get.
