Q: 4GL -> Java good idea?
Posted in 1997
Team, I'm just wondering if anybody thinks a 4GL to Java cross-compiler would be a good idea. This is, of course, entirely non-trivial, and the result would almost certainly not be nice OO code. Accepting this, is it still a worthwile idea? One of the coolest things about Java, IMHO, is the ability to write portable, readable, server-side code, which is what I would expect the 4GL -> Java cross-compiler to be mainly used for: A migration path for business logic. Waddaya reckon?
