.Net driver limitation?
Posted in 2004
Using CSDK 2.81.TC3 on Windows 2000, specifically the .Net driver. We are running into a limit on the size of a parameter field (for an IfxCommand object). Our parameter for a stored procedure is a collection (SET) of row datatypes. If the collection string goes over 1031 characters, we get a driver error: "invalid collection literal value." We are adding the parameter using IfxCommand.Parameters.Add("parameter name","parameter value"); Using Reflector on the IBM.Data.Informix.dll, I couldn't find any restrictions. It looks like the parameter value is passed around as an object. Somewhere it gets converted to a string, but I'm not sure why that would hit a limit around 1030 characters. Anyone else hit this constraint? Sean R. Durity Manager of Information Technology CornerCap Investment Counsel 404-870-0700
