SE 7.2 for NewEra 3.0 on NT4.0

I am having problems getting NewEra 3.0 to setup correctly on my NT 4.0 workstation. It seems to fall over when it tries to access the SE database, reporting "that the user is not valid for the database server". I have created an NT user called informix with a password of informix and given the user full administrator rights. I have the same user setup in the SE passwd screen and setnet is setup for a LOCAL database with the same user. After using Informix helpline support, and not getting anywhere, I noticed something in the SE 7.2 manual on the docs CD. I came across a note saying that "SE 7.2 will not work with a FAT file system, but only with an NTFS file system". I currently have my NT workstation setup using a FAT system and don't want to change it to an NTFS one. NT4.0 supports FAT and I have good reasons for using it. Why does the manual say this? Windows 95 doesn't have an NTFS and it supports Standard Engine. Has anyone had Standard Engine working on NT4.0 with FAT?
