It seems that the termcap functionality was replaced by the terminfo database. The termcap file is only present to direct your attention to the terminfo stuff. So I guess here is the answer. HP screwed up the standard termcap stuff and Informix didn't bother rewriting the isql utilities to use terminfo. BTW, I do try to RTFM... If you check out my .sig I'm NOT a Unix hater.
