"comp" means it's something to do with computers, "databases" means it's got something to do with databases and "informix" means it's got something to do with the database products made by Informix. Something like comp.databases.ingres, only different. There are a number of DOS/Windoze SQL databases, Gupta's SQLBase sounds like it may be a good fit. I'm afraid I can't help you on shareware.
