Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A newcomer asked what the letters in IDS 9.40 version names like TC1 or xC2 mean. Replies said U is 32-bit UNIX, F is 64-bit UNIX, H is 32-bit HP-UX, T is Windows, and X is a general release note. Martin Fuerderer clarified F is not HP-UX specific and there is no Linux letter. The poster thanked everyone.

Generally, the first letter after the point is:
U for Unix 32 bit
H for HP-UX, 32-bit code compiled to run on a 64-bit machine
F for HP-UX 64-bit only
T for Windows
X means usually a release note or other information that applies to all
variants
Don't think there's a specific Linux code (yet?)

Hi,
F is for 64-bit UNIX versions in general, not specific to HP-UX.
There is not specific letter denominating Linux, that is right.
Linux versions have U or F like other UNIX versions.

Martin
