This space can be freed with SHRINK. These features are available in Enterprise edition ans AFAIK and for the moment in WE. It's not available in Express edition. Customers can use this without buying the compression, or in restrict naming, the Storage Optimization Feature. So, independently of the compression itself, IDS 11.50.xC4 introduced the two functionalities above, which can be very useful (and they don't cost money where available (EE and eventually WE).
