Re: informix <--> oracle connectivity

Nick A colleague mentioned using the Oracle extension to Perl (oraperl?) and the DBD::Informix to write a script that reads from one database and write to another. Or you could use Java and JDBC to both Oracle and Informix. They may work out as better (ie non-vendor specific) approach than using Powerbuilder. We decided to pass data using simple unloads and loads. In Oracle unloading Ascii is not as easy as in Informix. We have also considered using something like a Powerbuilder app to mediate between the two servers. Just adding fuel to the fire, Nick On Tue, 17 Aug 1999, Art S.
