Hi there, I have an RS6000 with AIX 4.3.2. Running on this is Informix 7.31. I need to get an NT box to run (and get results from) 4GL procedures on the informix database. Can i run these 4GL procedures through an ODBC connection? If there is any pertinany information i've missed out - please tell me, as i don't have much experience with informix databases. ****************************** Please remove 'NOSPAM' from my email address before you reply ****************************** - David Brophy Director, Cambro Limited, (01703) 679550 daveb@cambroNOSPAM.co.uk ICQ#27758445
What about turning those 4gl procedures into stored procedured, then running the stored procedures through ODBC? Your options are: o Convert the functions into Stored Procedures in the database if possible. o Use an rsh utility to execute the 4GL program remotely on the server optionally piping input to it. o Convert to D4GL so you can run 4GL front-end on NT and the back-end on AIX. o Convert to D4GL and run the entire 4GL app on NT. o Try Querix or one of the other 4GL clones that run on NT that can use ODBC connections and run the functions locally on the NT box. o Write a custom communications protocol to communicate with a service running on the AIX box to request that it execute the 4GL function for your NT app and return results.
