INFORMIX is essentially Y2K compliant, but you can create non-compliant databases and certainly non-compliant source code. Typical examples are as follows: DBDATE = DMY2/ dates stored as any combination of ddmmyy in a character 6 field ditto integer fields non-standard date calculations Key areas of major concern are: User date inputs Interfaces to or from other systems, where all the systems must be made compliant simultaneously We have a product which can assist you in ensuring that your applications are compliant. This product is called SourceMan, and whilst developed for the Y2K problem can be used for support and maintenance. SourceMan is written in INFORMIX and will and required the following form the user: 1. Specify the path where your systems source code resides 2. List the types of files to search for e.g. .4gl , /sh, .sql , .ace, .c 3. Specify the databse which your system uses 4. Enter the literals which you wish to search for - the system comes pre-loade dwith a set of potentially problematic INFORMIX Y2K strings. You can also automatically pull in all date columns from the database, and all columns which might be date columns, but are not defined as date. SourceMan will then collate all the source code elements and parse these searching for the strings defined. A full interrogation mechanism then allows you to view all code and the affected lines. A view screen enables the user to view all source code items scanned, see the specific lines of code which caused problems, and enter edit mode to actually edit the source code at the correct point. Each code item has statistics about the number of literals found in the code, and the total number of potentially erroneous lines. In addition each source code item has a status which can be set to complete once the source code element has been satisfactorily assessed and corrected.
