If you're using Online, and both databases are in the same instance, you
can see entities in both databases by prefixing with the database name.
e.g. select <field list> from prod:<table>, test:<table>
where prod:<table>.<field> something and......
If you're using Online and the databases are in seperate instances, then
you'll need Star to do the job. Syntax is basically the same but you add
the dbservername into the database name portion (prod@<dbservername>: etc).
The functionality of Star is built into Engine versions 6 and above, in
case you're thinking of upgrading in the near future.
If you don't got Online, (or SE version 7.x, I think) then you'll have to
muck about
with temp tables which is hardly the "automatic" you were looking for.
