Physical restore failed

Hello All,
We have a database of size 35 GB. Also we have ontape level 0 backup and
backup is placed on multiple mount points instead of single disk partion.
Two questions
1. IDS is running on the server where I am trying to restore.
If we have to restore database completly from the backup, do we need to put
all the backup files in same directory and then start restore using ontape?
I am asking this because I am getting below error when I am trying to restore.
hptest: ontape -r
Please mount tape 1 on /BACKUP/backupFile/bkf.15.091018 and press Return to
continue ...
Archive Tape Information
Tape type: Archive Backup Tape
Online version: INFORMIX-OnLine Version 7.13.UC6
Archive date: Sun Oct 18 11:25:18 2009
User id: informix
Terminal id: ?
Archive level: 0
Tape device: /BACKUP/backupFile
Tape blocksize (in k): 20
Tape size (in k): 2010000
Tape number in series: 15
Continue restore? (y/n)y
Physical restore failed - function Invalid archive tape failed code -1 errno 2
Program over.
2. Do we need to create raw devices and chunks before full restoration or it
will be created automaticaly during restore?
Please help.
Well, I'm not sure if you are getting this immediately or not, but if you are,
it appears the problem is you have the wrong "tape" to start off the restore.
The line "Tape number in series: 15" from your output is saying this is the
15th tape of this archive, to start the restore, you need the 1st tape of the
series.

Your best bet will be to point the TAPEDEV at an empty location say
/BACKUP/activeFile and copy each of the required backup files to it in
turn as ontape asks you to change tapes (you have to start with sequence
1). You could also do it with links, but on the whole, I think using
copies would be easier.

Your chunks should be created by the restore, but the raw devices will
need to exist and have the correct permissions for the restore to
proceed.

Opps, for your 2nd question the answer is yes, you need to have the devices
set up and links in place before you perform the restore. So you need to have
the chunk paths created and the space available. You do not have to use
onspaces or what not to create the chunks.

You are aware that the restore will overwrite the existing server if it uses
any of the same chunk paths as the server from which the archive was made?

Errno 2 is a permissions error. The file/tape/device that is holding the
archive must be owned by user informix and group informix and have 660
privileges ONLY.

All chunk paths must exist at the time that the restore begins and must have
the correct permissons (same as for the archive itself as above). If the
chunk was a RAW or COOKED device (rather than a filesystem file) then it
must be at least at big as the original device from which the corresponding
chunk was backed up.
