To All Informix Programers
I have a question for Informix 4GL programers. I need to
display a screen form Actually a window with a screen form
that is greater then 80 columns wide.
I need to have 132 column screen width. The terminal type
is vt100. If I set the column variable to 80 in the termcap
I get an error that the screen form is to big to fit on the screen.
-1136 Window is to large to fit on the screen.
If I set the column variable to 132 in termcap it will display ok
but this setting causes display problems when the screen forms
are set to 80 wide mode. Window borders being uneven ie portions
one or two spaces to the left or right on the right side of the
screen. I think this is due to tab settings ???
I have tried to change my TERM variable with putenv(TERM=jj100)
( jj100 = a vt100 termcap entry set to column width of 132. )
before I try to open the window. The variable is being changed
I checked it with getenv() but I still get the same error.
The Problem I believe is caused by curses (No I'm not swearing)
When the window (or screen) is being initialized on program execution
the TERM variable is used being I have it set to vt100 80 columns
the screen is set to have 80 column width.
So how can I change the screen width during the program ??????
If I had a termcap entry that would work correctly when set to 132
column width with 80 screen modes this would take care of it.
I have tried to change certain entries in the termcap and nothing
seemed to work.
I think a curses call must be made but since the windows are all
defined by the preprocessor how can I use a new one that I create ?
Any help to get over or around this problem would be greatly
appreciated.
