Re: Looking for a label printer

I have a couple of clients who are using BarCode Blazers. They work fine, but are not especially fast and are limited in the font department. Do take a close look at the more serious units; the Zebra Stripe ($1,500 or so) is a good base-line professional model. For the extra money you get a heavier-duty machine, more fonts, more speed, and options for expansion (like more memory for downloaded graphics and TrueType fonts). Another thing to consider is that the more expensive machines have better adjustment and control when it comes to setting print speeds and printhead burn temperatures. This can become very important if you ever want to print special types of label stocks. For instance, you can print very durable (almost permanent) labels using polyester label stock and resin-based ribbons; they even qualify for use as UL/CSA electrical rating plates. So, think about how you might use the printer in the future. It might be worth the extra money for a better machine. Bob Lounsbury MEC Software bar code specialists
