Problem in starting Online

When i tried to up Online (oninit) I am getting this message
oninit: cannot open chunk '/dev/rdsk/c0t6d0se' see online message log
oninit: fatal error in shared memory initialization
In Online.log (Message log file) it has been logged as
00:35:55 warning: chunk timestamps are invalid
00:35:55 I/O error, Primary Chunk '/dev/rdsk/c0t6d0se' -- Offline
(sanity)
00:35:55 INFORMIX-OnLine Stopped
Root dbspace size is 40000
Physical Log size is 1500
There are 6 logical log files with size as 600
Dynamic server version 6.x
What could be the reasons? My problem is that I did'nt have any backup at
all. Is that possible I can restore all my data. I need you suggestions on this.
Please help us in restoring the data.
Even if it may be a bit expensive, call Informix Tech Support. Most of the
time
they are able to make Your server continue work. I wouldn't try to solve a
problem
like this on my own, because it's to risky.

This looks like a Solaris/Sun system. Is this a recently created engine
instance?
Did you remember not to use the first few cylinders for Informix chunks? If not
you
have probably over written the vtoc (Solaris partition table) stored there. Run
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0se and if you do not see a valid partition table you are
hosed!
BTW it is really bad practice to use the actual device file paths for chunks.
It is
much better, for many reasons, to create a directory containing symbolic links
to
the actual devices and use these link names' paths for chunk paths.
