You should not need to rerun SetNet32 to change servers. You just need to use an explicit CONNECT statement to connect to the specific server by name or formulate the database string as <database>@<server>. The former is better as the latter will connect first to the default server (defined in the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable) and ask the default server to make a connection to the other server for you as a data passthrough). As long as the server is defined in SetNet32 you will be fine. You can even have multiple concurrent connections from your ESQL/C program to different servers and switch between them on the fly using SET CONNECTION statements. Art S. Kagel
