I have never been a primary support contact for Oracle, UDB or SQL Server but I've worked next to the guys and gals who are and have attended their weekly on call meetings. There were a lot of problems that required engine bounces to resolve issues while my engines were up for over 500+ consecutive days (and there were a lot more IDS instances and a lot fewer IDS DBAs for that matter.)
