Jeff,
this is kind of an indirect answer to your question;
We have a script that cron runs every hour or so, that checks
for ODBC connections that are older than 6 hours and get's
rid of 'em.
We also check for ip's that have more than 4 connections at
any time, blow the earliest one away...
I know our method seems a little heavy handed, but we rationalize
it with the thought that if they *really* have a query/job that's
been running for that amount of time, then we need to talk
about what there trying to do...
