If you do the select as above depending on the number of tables you have
you will be wasting some additional time fro that "unique", so you
should try :
select current from systables where tabid = 1 --: which issystables itself :--
But it will be always better to use "set explain on" and evaluate your
sql-statements, which will give you more consistent results irrespective
of the machine load.
