Re: Move from 5.01 to 7.21 4gl problem

We've had a similar problem when enhancing a 4gl under v6tools/v7 engine. Unfortunately, my experience may not help you. In our case, we had a multi-purpose report 4gl which had a variety of possible select statements as candidates for the report driver. The report driver would PREPARE the select statement, DECLARE the cursor and OPEN the cursor using a set of variables the number of which depended on the select statement being used. When we enhanced (added a new select statement to the possibilities), this particular statement consistently reported error 254. If we had a regular DECLARE and FOREACH, things worked OK. I hate to admit that we didn't dig deep enough to reach any clear conclusion about the source of the problem - we just plumped for the DECLARE-FOREACH method after about 2 hours of this and that. Suggestion : Replace "OPEN tmp_cursor" with a FOREACH loop. P.S. If you do reach a definitive conclusion about this problem, please post it (let me know, at the least).
