I wouldn't recommend a Unix script for the restore, there's just too much
operator intervention and thinking required. What happens if there's a
problem? Who's there to try it again. What to do if you decide to do a
mixed restore? etc. etc.
As for log backups and different level backups with ontape, if you have
some backup of your backup and can afford a temporary setback and can keep
your backup to a single, then a simple script is a good idea. For this I
refer you to the IIUG web site and archives - there is something there and
I have seen a lot of variations on this theme (see www.iiug.org for starters).
