dostats install

I'm not sure this goes here but I didn't know where else to put it. When trying to build dostats I get the following errors and I have no idea why. utils2.ak $ make INFORMIXC=xlc esql -O2 -qmaxmem=32768 -DHAVE_GNU_GETOPT=1 -DHAVE_GETOPT_H=1 -oul -lc ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .main ld: 0711-345 Use the -bloadmap or -bnoquiet option to obtain more information. make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 8. Any help? it's an AIX6.1 box. I've also tried on 5.3.

Nate: This is the right forum, but you can always contact me directly if you have any problems building or using my utilities packages (my email address is near the top of the README.1st file). OK, the problem is that you are using the default makefile and you are not using GNU make which it requires. In that makefile I used the GNU specific convention "$^" to represent the source file which the standard make on AIX doesn't understand. No problem, just use the Makefile.nognumake which uses "$?" instead! The default makefile uses some other GNU Make specific code to make it easier to compile using the c4gl compiler which you don't need. Note that you will have to make the AIX specific changes again to that makefile and, if you want to build myschema also to the myschema makefile (myschema.mk.norcs.nognumake) in the myschema.d subdirectory. If you have gotten it already, you will need my portable ar utility package, ar2, in order to unpack the myschema source code archive because that file is in SystemV ar archive format and AIX's ar utility is not compatible (the only ar left that does not support SystemV format BTW - IBM get with the program here). Ar2 can also be downloaded from the IIUG Software Repository. Feel free to reach out to me if you are still having problems. I build utils2 on AIX for several clients, so I know it works. Art Art S.
