Temporary String Space errors

I need a profiler for Informix-4gl. Specifically, I would like to print a function call tree for a program which is giving me 'out of temporary string space' errors. My 4gl version is 4.11.UC4 on the RS/6000 using AIX 3.2.5. According to the manual, this can be caused by certain types of case statements, strings assignments with function calls, or nested function calls which return strings. Neither of the first two are applicable, so it has to be the third. The only function I have that returns a string does not call any other functions.
