Problem while remote database connection (ERR 956)

On UNIX , we have taken care of .rhosts / hosts.equiv setting and are able to rlogin to the destination host. The ids that we are using on both the servers are same. =20 Also we observed that the same problem does'nt arise when we tried to connect using Informix user Id.
