4GL and Oracle

Hi, This question more properly belongs in comp.lang.informix but as far as I know it foes not exist. We would like to hear from people that have used 4GL and/or New Era to access Oracle databases. We are about to become an Informix 4gl shop and we need to know the gotchas with writing stuff that can access Informix SE, Online and Oracle. We have heard scare stories about ODBC for update purposes. Is the Informix interface to Oracle ODBC based? If this is in a FAQ please direct me to it.
