DO NOT BUY INFORMIX STOCKS
Posted in 1996
Yes, the way INFOMRIX conducts their business...they should run out of business soon....if not earlier than soon. I have wasted a whole weeks worth of work due to some of the numb nuts working for Informix. We recently got a new machine HPK420 and I was responsible to configure it and install Informix 5.07UC2.....we received the tapes and I was glad they arrivied earlier than expected (unusual might I say)...However, when I started to install the first module 4gl 16-user I got errors saying the following installing . installing /etc installing /lib/tools ar: zero length string name installation failed I called our vendor Elite from whom we order the software, they in turn called Informix who found out that their Master was corrupted...(I would imagine one would check the integrity of the SW before shipping it out...I guess at INFORMIX they have a sweat shop where the illegal aliens are duplicating the software). They then asked me If they could send me the software on a CD...to which I said why did you not send me that as a back up in the first place (I guess that was asking a bit too much). I called Informix sales office number directly to ask the status of the shipment....the numb nuts there told me that the order is still being processed and has not left the shipping dept yet....this is a day later after I had asked them for next day air...I gave them the information again and called them back half hour later just to make sure....Yes! you guessed it they had the wrong information. Well finally I found somebody there who spoke a bit of english and sent me the SW next day air (this is now two days later). I got the cds and guess what they were not in HP format after adding a few patches I was able to untar the files only to get the same error as I had gotten with the tape...As of a week we have no Informix software and we were supposed to have gone live yestarday. HOW CAN I TRUST THE NEXT SHIPPMENT......WOULD YOU BUY STOCKS WITH THEM????? David Kulkarni David Kulkarni Systems Administrator email: dkulkarn@ix.netcom.com
