hi,
i try to init the server via onmonitor-startup (or oninit -s), i get the
following error :
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory creation.
the online.log file:
20:59:20 shmget: [EEXIST][17]: key 52564801: shared memory alreadyexists
20:59:20 mt_shm_init: can't create resident segment
what do I have to do ?
thanks,
theo

It probably means that an instance with the same SERVNUM is already running,
or possibly that it didn't come down cleanly. You can use ipcrm to remove
the relevant shared memory segments.

On Solaris and on Irix, sometimes we've had to do a 'kill -9' of all the
existing "oninit" processes before Informix would re-initialize. Has this
server been running successfully before? If so, this should work - if not,
it may recur due to other startup problems. Look also at some of the
memory-related parameters in the ONCONFIG file. Very important -- take a
look at the end of the /etc/online.log (server log file) - there will often
be additional error and diagnostic information available.
