HELP WANTED -- Can't connect to database

Hi! I try to connect to an informix database with a java application using jdbc. When I connect from the computer running the database, with String url = "jdbc:informix-api-direct:"; String info = ";database=mybase"; Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url + info); everything is going fine. Then I tried a remote connection with String url = "jdbc:informix-api-remote:rmi://myinformixserver"; String info = ";database=mybase;"; Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url + info); to which my system responded SQLException:informix.api.remote.rmi.DBRemoteException:Server RemoteException; nested exception is: java.rmi.RemoteException: No user name specified But I have no user name and password! Why would I need one now, when I didn't need it when connecting locally? I have also tried to supply user,password="" in various combinations, but in vain. What is the problem? How do I do to connect remotely? I am new to both informix and jdbc, so please be gentle :-) All tips and hints greatly appreciated. I need to get this thing working soon. regards / Fredrik Fyring
