Re: Basic Character String Operations

One way may be: define l_orderint smallint, l_order char(2) -- or larger if needed let l_orderint = l_sortdata -- l_sortdata contain your -- current char-data let l_order = l_orderint using "#&" output to report r_xxx(l_order,....) report r_xxx(l_order,....) order by l_order ... Doing it without the l_orderint variable may also work: let l_order = l_sortdata using "#&" but I haven't ever tested that. elliott d <elliott@tmscorp.com> wrote: :Heya, : I know this sounds easy, but could anyone advise me on how I can get my :reports to sort strings ("1", "2", ... "10", "11",) in 'human' order :rather than ("1", "10", "11", ... "2")? : :Thanx Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
