Hi, Art, thank you for listening!
No, we run TLI connections only.
There are no ipc shared memory connections at all.
We startet the project on INFORMIX Version 6
and our port did not support shm connections (I can not verify this, it was
before I joined)
Anyway, this is a typical setup on the PC
hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
194.37.184.66 s4080001 # ceres: used by inf_svc
194.37.228.2 cs_s0000004 # ceres: used by ief_svc
194.37.229.74 cs_s0000001 # ceres: used by ief_svc
194.37.228.5 cs_s0000012 # ceres: used by ief_svc
194.37.106.130 cs_s0010001 # ceres: used by ief_svc
194.37.106.34 cs_s0020001 # ceres: used by ief_svc
..... this is followed by all the other server machines (99 of them)
informix.ini:
[INET_CONNECTION]
user=AMSDBUSR1
service=ifx1
protocol=tcp-ip
Host=s4080001
Passwd=XX 32 32 32 32 33 34 35 36 47 48 49 50 90 90 99 99 99 99

On unix we have:
/etc/inetd/hosts (excerpted)
194.37.184.66 s1 s4080001
194.37.184.130 0.s4080001
194.37.185.66 1.s4080001
sqlhosts
s40800011 ontlitcp s1 ifx0
0.s1 ontlitcp 0.s4080001 ifx0
1.s1 ontlitcp 1.s4080001 ifx0
s40800021 ontlitcp s2 ifx0
0.s2 ontlitcp 0.s4080002 ifx0
1.s2 ontlitcp 1.s4080002 ifx0
I4080001 ontlitcp s1 ifx1
I4080002 ontlitcp s1 ifx2
0.I1 ontlitcp 0.s4080001 ifx1
1.I1 ontlitcp 1.s4080001 ifx1
0.I2 ontlitcp 0.s4080001 ifx2
1.I2 ontlitcp 1.s4080001 ifx2
s00000011 ontlitcp s0000001 ifx0
I0000001 ontlitcp s0000001 ifx1
I0000002 ontlitcp s0000001 ifx2
and the relevant part of /etc/services is
# INFORMIX
ifx0 22222/tcp # Informix Service (CERES)
ifx1 22223/tcp # Informix Service
ifx2 22224/tcp # Informix Service
ifx3 22225/tcp # Informix Service
The hostname of the unix machine is 's1'
What do I miss here ?
