Seriously, last time I looked at Unnatural, I >really thought I was reading a COBOL program. (I didn't look too long, >though, I didn't want to regress too much! :-) Natural's the programming language. If you thought you were reading a COBOL program I don't think you were really paying attention - the language is designed to retrieve data from an Adabas database and this is reflected in its structure and syntax. Unlike COBOL. I still maintain that Adabas is pretty damn good, and would give Informix a run for its money. No, its marketing might not be quite as bad as Informix's (although I think that the Marketing Directors of each company may have done the same marketing correspondence course ("translated especially for you from the native Portugese by our translators based in Surinam")). It also suffers from allowing performance enhancing features like repeating groups which are strongly dispproved of by the Relational Police (also a division of marketing IMHO). Just remember, it was very fashionable for many years to deride Rodney Ackland, but now he's hailed as the father of modern comedy drama. Speaking of comedies!
