Hi, I need to add a char(1) column to one of my tables, I wan't to know if there is any difference between letting the column have a null value by default or assigning a default value like 'N'. Does both these cases take up the same space or are they different ? thanx

I'd use a non-null default unless there really is no suitable value (and even then I'd probably find one). -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
