I have placed the program "su_ontape" in the IIUG software repository. This C program switches the real and effective user-ID to "informix", then runs the ontape utility. This allows users other than "root" and "informix" to run ontape in a controlled manner. There is also a companion README file. To get the files, visit: http://www.iiug.org/software/ or ftp://ftp.iiug.org/pub/informix/pub/ Thanks to Mark Collins <mcollins@us.dhl.com> for contributing the program.
