The list module has many more features that I won't get into here. It is intended as both a pop-up selection list manager as well as to serve as a method to manage data (edit, insert and delete rows). In fact in my own implementations, the same code serves as both. FOR EXAMPLE: If the user presses a key in an input window to get a pop-up list of say zip codes and he sees that the desired code is not there, he can press insert and enter a new record (assuming he has the access rights). Similarly, if he sees that a spelling error exists in the zip code record, he can press enter and change it. This is all done without losing his place in the original input window. The desired zip code is returned to the input window field from the list with the accept key. In addition, the user can press the designated print key to print the list to a printer or file, not just the screen, the whole list of zip codes. This is an example of time saving for both the user and the programmer. The user does not have to quit the input window and somehow make his way to the appropriate data entry screen for zip codes and then return to the original input window. The programmer only makes one data management module for zip codes which at the same time serves as a pop-up selection list and a simple printed report. Sorry to bore you with all this... I could have said more. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- John H.
