The only way I know of for a change to "push out" from a database to a client Web Site would be for the client to query the database to see if there were changes, and the only way I know of to get the clients to do that would be to use JAVA to occasionally contact the server, which would then kick off some process to poll the database. There is a "Refresh" button on most browsers, but I don't think you'd want to force the users to hit the "Refresh" button all the time ;-> If you just want dynamic web pages, there are lots of options - CGI/Perl, oraperl, sybperl, Cold Fusion, <plug on> JAM/Web <plug off>, Tango, JDBC, etc. These tools allow you to query databases and return HTML to the clients. Does anyone know of a way to "broadcast" from the server, without the client initiating the request (which is what I think Ben was asking for)? I see alot of problems it would have to overcome...
