informix for linux, install?

Hi, a linux newbie's question(don't turn away!): I installed Linux using a slackware package. The kernal is 2.0.29 version. Informix say they provide supports for Caldera and S.u.S.E version of linux. Just wondering if I can install informix on my machine. Some confused by some many version of linux(es) around...
