Our front end is a VB application connecting via Q+E ODBC and Inet 5.x and we have no problems wrt the data format. Using Viewpoint to look at the same data the date is in the default format ie US. I assume there is a environment variable that can be set in the Viewpoint ini file to sort it but I haven't looked. It grieves me to say it but I don't think it is Q+Es fault this time!
