This should give you the precision you want, albiet, the numeric calculations will be slower than native data types. Now if the OS is 32 bit, the double would be 64bit word length. And if the OS is 64 bit, then for sure all floating points would be atleast 64 bits. However you still have to deal with the randomness caused by floating point arithmetic in the mantissa. You would be better off with the decimal data type.
