NewEra 2.12 bitmap resource bug
Posted in 1997
I've encountered the following bug in NewEra V2.12 for Win3/Win95: If you put the same resource more than one time in a form, the resource allocates n bytes for every single istance, instead of allocating the memory just one time. Assume that I have 30 buttons with the same bitmap image: NewEra allocates the same bitmap 30 times instead of referring to the same one 30 times. So we have lots of memory uselessly allocated and a degradation of performance. I've solved this bug in this way: After having generate the 4gl-4gh from the Window Painter, I manually edit the .RC file generated and delete all the uselessly references. This workaround works fine but it's very boring, so what I wish to know is if you know of some patch in order to solve it. Thank you.
